We are pleased to inform you that AQPAMM established a Membership Committee this year.
This VIP-P committee promotes the value (V) of our membership community, encourages members to get involved (I) in activities and promotes (P) the sharing of experiences, there by encouraging members to become active partners (P) of AQPAMM. Among other pursuits, the committee will work to provide ways for members to share their knowledge, support each other and boost their sense of belonging within our community of family and friends of people with mental health problems.
The Committee’s executive is made up of five AQPAMM members who are committed to active involvement, meeting five to six times per year. This year’s VIP-P Committee executive members are:
- Gisèle Tétreault, past Chair
- Diane Daigle-Landry, AQPAMM Board Secretary
- Monique Letellier
- Stéphanie Paquin, VIP-P Committee Executive Secretary
- Jean-Paul Langlois.
The VIP-P Committee began its work this spring. Two meetings were held with David Ford-Johnson, AQPAMM’s executive director. One of the VIP-P Committee’s main mandates is to advocate on behalf of family and friends of people with mental health issues as the provincial government develops its action plan on the primacy of the individual in the delivery and organization of mental health services in Montreal’s CIUSSS centres. Monique Letellier, Gisèle Tétreault, Diane Daigle-Landry and Jean-Paul Langlois will take part in meetings at the CIUSSS du Centre-Sud de l’Île-de-Montréal, CIUSSS du Nord de l’Île-de-Montréal, CIUSSS de l’Est de l’Île-de-Montréal and CIUSSS du Centre-Ouest de l’Île-de-Montréal, respectively. You will receive updates as these projects develop over the coming year.
This February, the VIP-P Committee executive will invite you to complete a survey to better understand your needs and expectations with respect to the Membership Committee. We know that some members would like to see AQPAMM host social activities as well. If you or someone you know would like to help out in this area, please contact the VIP-P committee by sending an email to: vipp@aqpamm.ca
Together, we can support one another and raise awareness around the challenges and contributions of friends and family of people living with mental health problems!
