For several years, pair-helping has been a practice that has been developing in Quebec and internationally. At Arborescence, we have been welcoming peer family caregivers to our teams since 2019. Peer family caregivers are members of the entourage of people living with a mental health disorder who, through their lived experiences and their own journeys, provide emotional support as well as an understanding of the realities and challenges. met. These trained professionals offer hope, information and mutual aid to parents and people around them. To benefit from their support, the loved one dealing with mental health issues must be followed in the health establishments of the CIUSSS with which the Arborescence has an agreement.

MEETINGS
Arborescence members have access to meetings offered by family peer helpers. These meetings are intended to promote hope in the face of the situation experienced through an exchange with a person who has a similar experience.

Arborescence has partnerships with CIUSSS. In this context, family peer helper services are offered in certain adult mental health services in various establishments.

PHONE HELPLINE
Hotline A free telephone support line is offered to members of the entourage of a person living with a mental health problem. This line gives you access to people who, like you, are close to a person living with a mental health problem and who have been specifically trained to listen to you and support you. The listening line allows people who feel the need to speak, to be welcomed in a warm, confidential and non-judgmental manner.
Our Family Support Peers are there for you at 1 800 349-9915. The hotline is available at the following times: Monday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m and Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. This project was made possible thanks to the support of the CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l'Île-de-Montréal and the CIUSSS de l'Est-de-l'Île-de-Montréal. This project is a collaboration with la SQS (Quebec Schizophrenia Society) and set up in partnership with the AQRP (Quebec Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation).

WORKSHOP THROUGH THE ARTS
Thanks to a partnership between CIUSSS de l'Est de l'île de Montréal and SQS (Société québécoise de la schizophrénie), Arborescence is collaborating with Les Impatients to offer you the opportunity to explore your creativity through weekly visual arts workshops. These workshops, led by a professional artist, encourage artistic expression through drawing, painting and collage, and are aimed at :
- people living with a mental health problem, accompanied by a loved one
- unaccompanied people living with a mental health problem
- unaccompanied relatives of people living with mental health problems.
Come and join us on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. or from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the Petite-Côte Community Center: 5675 rue Lafond, in Montreal H1X 2X6.
Anyone wishing to register for these workshops:
is not required to be a member of one of the partner organizations for this activity
agrees to participate on a regular basis. Absences are tolerated, but must be justified in order to reiterate interest in participating in the workshops.
