About – Family peer support

In recent years, peer support programs have been growing in popularity, both in Quebec and internationally. At AQPAMM, family peer helpers have been part of our teams since 2019.

Family peer helpers draw on their own experiences dealing with mentally ill family members and friends, offering emotional support and empathy to others in similar situations and helping them cope with everyday challenges. These trained professionals provide hope, information and mutual aid to friends and family of people living with mental health issues.

To be eligible for this program, individuals must have a friend or family member who is a patient at a CIUSSS health institution with which AQPAMM has an agreement.
